How does wait time work?

In this article, we break down the ins and outs of calculating your wait time.

After arriving within the expected pickup time, carriers on our network are expected to wait 20 minutes before wait time fees are incurred (standard shipments, 1-6 pallets). Once the initial 20-minute timer expires, carriers can either continue on to their next stop or continue to wait. Fees are calculated based on the additional wait time and vary based on the type of shipment.

  • 1 - 6 pallets: 20 minutes

  • 7 - 10 pallets 30 minutes

  • Dedicated: 30 minutes

  • CFS: 45 minutes

Even if details such as a lunch break are noted in the Bill of Lading, wait time charges may still apply as long as the driver arrives within the provided service windows (e.g., 8AM-4PM).

How is extra wait time calculated?

Additional wait time begins when the initial 20-minute timer expires. You'll be allowed to cancel the load or wait longer. Follow the prompts to start your extra wait time.

Make sure to log your paid wait time through the Mothership app, as compensation is provided only if this requirement is met.

How long can I wait at any given stop?

Paid additional wait time is capped at 1 hour, and for longer waits, please get in touch with support.

When do I get paid for wait time?

Extra wait time is paid automatically after you complete a stop and log your paid wait time through the Mothership app.
