How do fuel surcharges work?
Fluctuating fuel prices can hurt your bottom line, and our fuel surcharge is designed to help.
While we have always prioritized fair wages, we know that record-high gas prices across the country have made it increasingly difficult for our partner carriers to operate. To lessen the burden, Mothership is introducing a new fuel surcharge designed to keep payouts aligned with market rates.
How does the fuel surcharge work?
The total fuel surcharge amount will vary per load depending on load type, region, distance traveled, and your local fuel pricing.
For single loads, the fuel surcharge will be added after the base mileage has been met. For routes, the fuel surcharge is added per mile every mile.
How do you know the diesel prices for my region?
To ensure all of our partner carriers can earn a wage adjusted for their local market, we’re leveraging data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration to dynamically adjust our surcharge weekly with real-time fuel prices across the country.
How do I know how much I'm earning from a fuel surcharge?
Under “Offer details” in your Mothership app, you will be able to view a payment breakdown. Here you can see what the fuel surcharge is before accepting the offer. Once a shipment is completed, you can view the added fuel surcharge to your total payout on the Earnings page as well.
Please note: This surcharge view will only be available in payment breakdown and won’t be defined separately in your weekly statements. Additionally, If you are not a carrier owner you will not be able to view the fuel surcharge dollar amount as you do not have access to any payment details.
Is a fuel surcharge applied to all loads?
The fuel surcharge is applied to all loads available.
